Description:
I first became acquainted with the music of Johannes Brahms as a teenager. I fell deeply in love with his chamber and instrumental music: the clarinet quintet, the cello sonatas, the piano quintet in F minor, the horn trio and the piano intermezzi. Later I discovered his monumental piano concertos and symphonies. Although my compositional style has been influenced by 20th century composers (Copland, Bernstein, Barber, Walton and Vaughan Williams, to name but a few), the sheer passion that is in Brahms' works touches my heart and soul. It is this authenticity and humanity that I want to emulate in my writing. Intermezzo is my humble homage to this great master F.H
