Description:
This work was inspired by a walk in the Jardins de la Fontaine in Nîmes, France, in the company of our charming and cherished friends, Florence Creugny and Alexandre Bernoud.
The first movement, "Promenade aux jardins" (Garden Walk), depicts the various sites, ruins, and majestic scenery found there, as well as the peaceful atmosphere that pervades the place. It also evokes a passage from the French folk song "À la claire fontaine", recalling a musical memory from childhood.
The second movement, "Danse de la tour" (Dance of the Tower), captures—in a festive, dance-like spirit—the ascent of Mont Cavalier leading to the Tour de Magne, a Gallo-Roman monument that is an emblem of Nîmes.
