In March, the day after a concert in Nice, while I was once again marveling at the color of the eternal spring in this delightful region, a precious friend who loves the guitar and beautiful things invited me to listen to "a masterpiece"... His opinion is important to me and his enthusiasm appeals to me, and it's with a delicious curiosity that I follow him to his home, a few kilometers from Saint-Paul-de-Vence, where everything is beautiful, to discover this "rare" score. I sit down in his kitchen, he picks up his guitar and plays Palimpseste for me. I'm instantly taken in by this extraordinary music. The richness is unique, it's both complex and universal, timeless, I find in it the strength of the great sonatas of the early twentieth century that I so loved to decipher as a teenager: Ponce, José, Tedesco, Rodrigo... My precious friend was right, this piece is a treasure, and I believe, as he does, that it will survive the ages, perhaps the centuries, and that it fully belongs in the great classical guitar repertoire. This precious friend is Laurent Blanquart, and I thank him from the bottom of my heart for introducing me to this sumptuous music by Thierry Muller. I'm delighted and honored that it opens my collection at Henry Lemoine, and I can't wait to hear you play this masterpiece all over the world.
