Description:
Originally conceived by Calace as a basic textbook for learning to play the mandolin, this method was published in German translation by Carl Henze in 1922 with the same intention. Through her revision, Marga Wilden-Hüsgen has given this multi-volume textbook more the character of a collection of études. From today’s pedagogical perspective, too little attention is paid to the very first steps of learning, which is why Wilden-Hüsgen uses Calace’s material to delve more deeply into tone production and picking techniques on the mandolin. Incidentally, many of the pieces are also very well suited for introducing tremolo playing.
