In it, the author describes in powerful language the highly exciting and adventurous history of the origins and the numerous variants of this
probably the most famous folk song in Switzerland.
This sheet music booklet contains four versions, two-part (2nd part ad lib.) with piano accompaniment and accompanying parts in C and Bb: on the one hand the original version from 1832 with a newly composed yodel part so that the original melody can finally be heard; then the two popular versions from 1865 and 1873; and a new version in which the latter two sound simultaneously in the form of
a quodlibet, as a small folk opera in miniature, so to speak.
