Description:
Departures' was commissioned by the 'Noire Ensemble Winds', a community band from Fukuoka, Japan, on the occasion of the bands 20th anniversary. The conductor, Koichiro Taketomi and the composer both like the Japanese artist Tetsuya Komuro. He is recognized as the most successful producer in the Japanese music history and introduced contemporary electronic dance music to the Japanese mainstream. We agreed to make this piece based on dance music. The title 'Departures' is also one of the titles Komuro produced. The premiere of the piece was held on May 23th 2021, in 'Kasuga City Centre' in Fukuoka, Japan.
