Arthur Ney was born at Potsdam, Germany in 1887. He settled in Switzerland in 1914 and became a Swiss citizen six years later. He conducted numerous wind bands and composed some ten fine marches, such as 'Marschbereit', 'Trompetenruf' and 'Vivat Lucerna',
