Description:
Wilhelm Kienzl (born Waizenkirchen, Oberösterreich, January 17, 1857; died Vienna, October 3, 1941) was an Austrian composer, pianist, and conductor. On May 4 1895, Der Evangelimann, his most famous opera, was premiered. 'Selig Sind die Verfolgung Leiden' is undoubtedly the best-known part of this work. Originally a tenor aria, performed by the most famous opera singers of the world, Willy Hautvast has transcribed it brilliantly for band.
