Description:
An early and anonymous arrangement for two clarinets, two horns and two bassoons of Mozart's Horn Quintet K. 407, originally for horn and strings. Mozart wrote it for his friend the horn virtuoso and cheese merchant Ignaz Leutgeb. The quintet was written in an entertaining style, without great depth and this perhaps reflected the character of his friend who was a brilliant musician but possessed little culture and intelligence. However, the tender andgraceful middle movement was described by Albert Einstein as a love duet between the horn and violin.
