Description:
‘Walk of Life’ is a song by the British rock band Dire Straits. It first appeared on their best-selling 1985 album Brothers In Arms. On 29 November of that year, the song was released as a single worldwide. It was a close call – the song almost didn’t make it onto the album. Co-producer Neil Dorfsman was against the track, but the rest of the band wanted it on the album. As a result, it made it onto the album after all. The track features a simple rock ’n’ roll rhythm. The lyrics are about a busker who makes a living playing oldies such as ‘Be-Bop-A-Lula’, ‘What’d I Say’ and ‘I Got a Woman’. It is one of the most recognisable songs of the 1980s. Johny Ocean created an entertaining arrangement for concert band, fanfare and brass band.
