Description:
The premiere of the Two Essays" showed an artist who rightly completed her composition studies with Aram Khachaturian with distinction. She has long since surpassed him, is reluctant to be "pigeonholed" and is a convinced non-conformist who unwaveringly goes her own way." (Rhein Neckar Zeitung)
Olga Magidenko studied piano with Lev Vlassenko and composition with Aram Khachaturian at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. She completed both with distinction, as did the subsequent aspirant course. Olga Magidenko won the composition competition of the Soviet Republics in 1980 with her graduation work, the 1st Symphony Ostinato. In 1990 she was "Artist in Residence" at Stetson University Deland, Florida, USA. She has received several scholarships from the Kulturstiftung Rhein Neckar Kreis e.V. and the Margarethen Stiftung (Berlin).
Olga Magidenko's oeuvre encompasses a wide variety of genres: Operas, orchestral works, symphonies, chamber music, piano works, organ works and vocal works. Olga Magidenko has lived in Germany since 1994, today in Heidelberg.
