The premiere of Two Essays" showcased an artist who rightly graduated with honors from her studies in composition under Aram Khachaturian. She has long since surpassed him, is reluctant to be 'pigeonholed,' and is a staunch nonconformist who unwaveringly follows her own path." (Rhein Neckar Zeitung)

Olga Magidenko studied piano with Lev Vlasenko and composition with Aram Khachaturian at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. She completed both programs, as well as her subsequent postgraduate studies, with honors. With her thesis piece, the First Symphony "Ostinato", Olga Magidenko won the 1980 Composition Competition of the Soviet Republics. In 1990, she served as a composer and "Artist in Residence" at Stetson University in Deland, Florida, USA. She has received scholarships on several occasions from the Kulturstiftung Rhein Neckar Kreis e.V. as well as the Margarethen Foundation (Berlin).

Olga Magidenko's body of work encompasses a wide variety of genres: operas, orchestral works, symphonies, chamber music, piano works, organ works, and vocal works. Olga Magidenko has lived in Germany since 1994 and currently resides in Heidelberg.
