Description:
The well-known prayer "Ave Maria" (Hail Mary) has been set to music many times in various stylistic periods in the form of an extra-liturgical chant. Leoš Janácek conceived the work from 1904 in its original version in a two-part form for tenor and mixed choir with simple and restrained accompaniment by violin and organ. In the second version presented here, the "Ave Maria" is scored for tenor or soprano and choir ad libitum, accompanied by violin and piano or organ. The composition is dominated by excited, passionate solo singing, which is supplemented at the end of both parts by an "Amen" sung by the choir.
In addition to the instrumental parts (H06252-22), the score (H06252) is also available.
