Description:
The Prague church musician Joannes Lohelius (Franz Josef Oehlschlägel) was one of the leading Bohemian church musicians of the second half of the 18th century. His masses and motets enjoyed enormous popularity throughout Central Europe and are still highly valued in church music practice today. This is not least due to the charming, late baroque-early classical transitional style that characterizes most of his compositions. This also characterizes the Eucharistic motet presented here in the first edition. The homophonic choral writing is easy to sing, the two violins contribute cheerful figurative elements and the two trumpets (to be scored ad lib.) lend the work additional brilliance.
