Description:
The Munich-based British composer Graham Waterhouse is the son of the famous bassoonist William Waterhouse. So it is not surprising that he puts this instrument in the center of a larger composition. The work was premiered in Munich in 2003 by the bassoonist Lyndon Watts, to whom it is dedicated. The composition combines traditional elements with impressive new techniques. In the middle movement Armenian songs are cited, the composer heard in Jerusalem. Lyndon Watts performed the quintet with great success at the congress of the International Double Reed Society in New York in September 2014.
