Description:
Ambrosius Wilfflingseder stammt aus der Stadt Braunau am Inn, das damals zu Niederbayern gehörte. Dort ist er vermutlich um 1500 geboren. Um 1550 wurde er nach St. Sebald in Nürnberg berufen, wo er 1563 auch starb. Wilfflingseder war Schulmusiker und als solcher schrieb er den ersten größeren Schulmusik-Traktat in deutscher Sprache. Dieser Traktat erlebte mehrere Auflagen. Unserer Edition liegt ein Exemplar der 5. Auflage einer privaten Bibliothek zugrunde.
