Description:
Even during his lifetime, the Benedictine Marianus Königsperger had a reputation for having made a significant contribution to the promotion of church music, particularly in rural regions, with his substantial yet technically simple compositions. The extremely wide distribution of his works was made possible by his close collaboration with the Augsburg publisher Lotter, who distributed them throughout Central and Eastern Europe. From Königsperger's extensive vocal oeuvre, we present a rediscovery of a three-part, festive hymn of praise that breathes southern German baroque musical joy and was composed for the Easter season, but can also be sung on other festive occasions during the church year by omitting the bass aria 'Victimae paschali laudes'.
