Description:
The Winegrowers' Festival (Fête des Vignerons) is a grandiose spectacle that takes place approximately every 25 years in Vevey (Switzerland). Choirs, orchestras, singers, dancers, extras, parades... make this festival unforgettable for the many spectators during one month. In modern times, composers such as Jean Balissat and Jean-François Bovard have written music for the festival. Gustave Doret was commissioned in 1905. René Morax (who wrote the texts for Honegger's King David decades later) held the pen. In 1927, Doret added new numbers (texts by Pierre Girard). This arrangement is conceived as a suite. However, it is also possible to play only individual numbers. The order can also be changed. Playing in a trio is strenuous - doubling the instrumentation is also possible. A flugelhorn can be used alternately with the trumpet part.
