Description:
The aboriginal name given to the island of Puerto Rico is Borikén. This concerto, which bears the same name, presents to us in its first two movements, 'I. Yocahú and Juracán' and 'II. Ta no Prayer, ' a 'sonoric vision' of the Ta no native culture. The third movement, titled 'III. Mestizaje' ('crossing of races') exposes a different musical-cultural conception. The generative element on this third movement emphasizes the European, Spanish and African heritages which predominate in contemporary Puerto Rico. For advanced players. Duration: 27'
