Description:
Over the course of about ten minutes, this three-movement concerto unfolds a densely woven dialogue between the soloist and the string ensemble. The first movement, "Introduction – Allegro," begins with a rhapsodic, almost cadenza-like gesture before gaining momentum. Changes in tempo and character—libereamente surges, returns to a tempo, and rit. pauses—alternate with concise, clearly defined passages in a lively and richly contrasting style. The second movement, Adagio, offers an expressive contrast: a long, molto espressivo cantilena over a supple accompaniment, with variations in tone color (mutes, ponticello) and rubato, which leads directly into the finale. The third movement, Allegro con spirito, is the most brilliant and rhythmically captivating. Bouncy motifs, clear articulation, and lively interplay lead the work to a concluding accelerando sino al fine of dazzling virtuosity.
