Description:
The piece combines oriental and occidental cultures and music. The Drunken Cat stands for a western image: the multitonal melodic lines portray the cat's cute, sly and mysterious character. The Ancient City Wall stands for an eastern image, which is expressed through Chinese folk tunes. The unison of strings and winds in the later part of the work creates a grand background, while the repeated tones of the piano imitate the percussion of Beijing Opera.
