Description:
In the fall of 2023, the Kronberg Academy hosted the festival "Zuerst Mensch", honoring the cellist Pablo Casals. The present piece, "For Pablo", was commissioned for this occasion and premiered by the Gidon Kremer Trio.
I imagined this work precisely from a human aspect - with some references to universal musical phrases that pierce the veil of time - beginning with the first three lines of the traditional Catalan song "El cant dels ocells", which has become a symbol of peace through Pablo Casals.
