The Duo A1 for violin and flute was written for Wolfgang Schulz, the Vienna Philharmonic's principal flutist. A new kind of rhythm resulting entirely from the relations of tempi as well as the selection of different time fields characterize the temporal dimension of the harmonic developments. The addition of inverted accentuation serves as a third rhythmic dimension. A challenging piece for the duo partners in many respects.
