Description:
Gepard by Juraj Filas is a chamber music work for violin, violoncello and piano, which is part of the composer's expressive and deeply lyrical language. Through a dense and tense composition, Filas explores a dramatic universe in which instrumental virtuosity serves an intense emotional expression. The title, reminiscent of the cheetah, simultaneously suggests speed, tension and a form of fragility concealed behind the power. The three instruments enter into a richly contrasting dialog, alternating between lyrical sweeps and darker, almost mournful passages. The work is dedicated to "In memory of a destroyed Empire / Za rozvrácenou říši", which gives it a strong historical and commemorative dimension. This reference recalls the disappearance of a past world with its wounds, its nostalgia and its collapse. The musical discourse thus becomes a kind of implicit requiem, between remembrance and lament. Filas unfolds an extremely expressive composition here, in which each instrumental part seems to carry a part of the narrative. "Gepard" thus proves to be a poignant work, at once sensual and contemplative, characterized by a deep emotional power.
