In 1978, for the premiere of Hommage a Mihály András, György Kurtág visited Witten, and there he met the teachers of the Waldorf school in Witten-Herdecke. Commemorating this meeting, he created and dedicated to his new acquaintances the three-part Herdecker Eurythmie, using their poems and special instruments.
