Description:
Helena Winkelman, the interesting Swiss-Dutch violinist and composer, sets in this concerto the legend of Icaros from Greek mythology to music. She illustrates Icaros' attempt to escape from exile on Crete with self-made feather wings, his urge to fly higher and higher, his miserable fall into the sea. His father's grief. A topical subject, an impressive work, a real challenge for the trumpet.
