Description:

KING DAVE tells the biblical story of King David in various scenes and pictures, the selection of the shepherd boy David, his meeting with Saul at his court through to the story of David and Goliath. Saul's spear throwing is also represented. The scene with the seeress of En-Dor is particularly impressive and mystical. But even David is not infallible. But God forgives him in the end. Markus Gustav Berger has written a libretto that tells the story in a gripping way and combines the individual scenes into an exciting overall dramaturgy. Michael Benedikt Bender sets this material to music in 22 songs, predominantly in a contemporary pop sound, creating an overall effect that is characterized by the old plot, which becomes highly topical thanks to the skilful use of music, but can also be performed well by youth choirs.
