Description:
The Augsburg cathedral conductor Franz Bühler was one of the most frequently performed composers of the first half of the 19th century, who always responded to the practical requirements of the ensembles of his time. For his 'Missa brevis et facilis', composed at the end of the 18th century, he chose a flexible scoring in which several duplicating parts could be omitted. Our new edition dispenses with these ad libitum parts, resulting in an ordinarium with small scoring for three-part choir and solos, 2 violins and basso continuo. The relatively short work has a classical formal rigor, impresses with its melodic richness, musical freshness and overall ease of performance (one third soloists). This provides the three-part mixed choir with a veritable 'classical' mass for festive services and concerts.
