Around the middle of the 18th century, Adlgasser was one of the most important musical personalities in Salzburg: Eberlin's pupil and son-in-law as well as Mozart's predecessor as princely court and cathedral organist shone in particular with his representative instrumental and sacred choral works. In this first edition, we present a beautiful-sounding, early classical Ordinary from his mass oeuvre, in which the composer combines stylistic features of Eberlin's and Mozart's masses in an exemplary manner and combines technical and formal variability with a high level of musicality. Due to the large number of soloists and the modest instrumentation, the work is also accessible to average choirs and instrumental ensembles. We recommend this discovery as a genuine alternative to the much-sung masses of Mozart and Haydn, written in their immediate surroundings. With Credo.
