Description:
The "Missa pastoralis in C", presented here for the first time, was composed around 1808. It is part of a cycle of sacred chants called "Cursus sacro-harmonicus", which Ryba created as an ordinarium and proprium for all Sundays and feast days of the church year. The "Missa pastoralis in C" is a pastoral mass for the Christmas Mass. As in the "Missa pastoralis in B flat", Ryba also uses concertante instruments in this mass: Trumpet and bassoon. The latter is very rarely used as a soloist in mass compositions and lends the work a unique character.
