Description:
Moerae refers to the three goddesses of fate in Greek mythology. There, the "Moirae" decide on people's lives by spinning their "threads of life", measuring them and cutting them at death. This symbolism is particularly audible in the strings and sustaining notes of the two string instruments. With this work, Elias Praxmarer won the renowned Saarlouis Composition Competition for Organ in 2023. The jury particularly emphasized the "special sensuality of sound" and her play with echo sounds. In Moerae, performers and audiences experience the captivating, surprising, but also the unusual. This composition should take a place in the repertoire of those who are looking for an extraordinary listening and playing experience.
