Description:
A superb piece by the magnificent Kaija Saariaho completed in 1990. Oi Kuu translated as for a moon is set for Bass Clarinet and Cello with a duration of approximatley 6 minutes. It signalled a brief period between two large orchestral works, Du Cristal and ? La Fumee and consists of multiphonies created and encountered between Bass Clarinet and Cello. Full of colour, it is typically expressive with unusual sounds and manual effects. Oi Kuu was commissioned by Kari Kriikku and Anssi Karkttunen and has been dedicated to them.
