The sacred vocal work of the Viennese master Salieri is still partly unexplored, which means that the archives still hold many discoveries and surprises. This is also the case with the present first edition of his "Salve Regina". It combines all the qualities that should distinguish a setting of the popular Marian antiphon: despite the manageable instrumental means, these are solemn, virtuoso figurations, vocal lines and a touching expression. Salieri once again proves to be a sovereign master of his craft, who has been very unjustly neglected in the past. The present edition opens up another composition from his rich catalogue of works, which should certainly not only worthily complement the compositions of his alleged antipode Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in church services and concerts, but should also find enthusiastic listeners.
