Description:
The Foam Against the Giant is inspired by a sea voyage by composer Ewen Cousin. The title refers to the encounter between human fragility and the overwhelming power of nature, as experienced during violent storms in the Bay of Biscay. In this unstable and impressive environment, music became a means of capturing the moment and focusing the energy of the journey. Gradually notated on paper, the work emerged from short sketches exploring registers and timbres. These musical fragments, characterized by the movement of the sea, wind and spray, gradually developed into a cohesive, expressive composition. The work reflects a constant tension between movement and resistance, proximity and immensity, thus unfolding a lively, contrasting and impressive world of sound.
