Description:
The executive edition with essays and critical commentary, authored by Agnieszka Budzińska-Bennett and Marc Lewon, created in cooperation with the PWM Edition and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, is an edition of the musical part of the manuscript Rps 8054 III, commonly called Kras 52. The edition includes all the compositions contained in the manuscript as well as pieces preserved only fragmentarily, recorded in the manuscript in the margin as sketches, and in the transcription supplemented with possible implementation. Some of the compositions have a proposed alternative version that can be performed (with different texting, more emendations or a different implementation of ligatures). In individual works, comments are written in the margin describing the changes made by the authors of the edition compared to the manuscript. Each composition is accompanied by an essay on the history of the piece as well as the nature of the notation and the method of notation.
The publication also includes: an introduction, short biographies of composers and poets, a glossary of terms used in the edition and the most up-to-date bibliography.
The publication is published bilingually: in Polish and English.
