The plot stays very close to Shakespeare's original: In Illyria, it seems, everything revolves around love. It's quite confusing—not just because women played by men sometimes dress up as men who are playing women. Or something like that. Shakespeare raises questions that are highly relevant today—about identity and desire, about lust and longing, and about the dissolution of overly rigid gender roles. He blurs boundaries and opens up new spaces—both literal and metaphorical. When we speak of love, are we referring first and foremost to ourselves or to our partner? The protagonists embark on a journey of discovery. The result is a highly entertaining, youthful musical with depth: after all, true humor is never without a certain measure of seriousness. Music and lyrics: Daniel Stickan's music is characterized by an imaginative, very personal sound that blends sophisticated pop with jazz influences and catchy tunes. The vocal ranges are tailor-made for a youth ensemble (ages 14 and up). Experience in singing and acting is a plus.
