Description:
Johann Sebastian Bach's festive council election cantata "Wir danken dir, Gott, wir danken dir" (BWV 29) is among the most magnificent works of the Leipzig master. Composed in 1731 for the ceremonial inauguration of the city council, the cantata captivates listeners with radiant splendour, virtuosic solo organ passages, and jubilant choral movements. Alongside four soloists (SATB) and mixed choir, Bach deploys an imposing celebratory ensemble featuring three trumpets, timpani, two oboes, strings, and organ solo. This performance material from the renowned Carus-Verlag contains the meticulously edited wind, brass, and percussion parts (Harmoniestimmen). With its clear, legible layout and scholarly precision, this edition provides the perfect foundation for an inspiring and brilliant performance of Bach's baroque masterpiece.
