Description:
Text and music by Raoul Lay, adapted from the Brothers Grimm's Godfather Death. A poor and destitute father looks for someone to be his thirteenth child's godfather. Death seems to him the fairest of all, because he treats everyone as an equal. As the years go by, the child becomes a brilliant doctor. Death helps him, by appearing -invisible to all but him- at the sufferers' bedside. When he is at the foot of the bed, it is recovery. When he stands at the head, it is the end. Will the young man try to cheat his godfather, out of love or out of pride? Premiered on 2008 by ensemble Télémaque, under Raoul Lay's conduction.
