Description:
In three movements, written in the classical form of a concerto grosso: Allegro, poco Adagio, Allegro final. The resolutely tonal language reflects the great flow of 20th century French composers, combined with additional eclectic influences and the composer's inspiration. The orchestration is based on a palette of timbres, shaped by three quartets: four solo brass, strings and four woodwinds (2 oboes and 2 horns). The quartets are treated as autonomous units, two-part or otherwise complementary, producing alternately warm or dull, brilliant or dark, majestic or intimistic timbres. Alla Francese was premiered in April 2014 in Colmar (France) by the Quatuor Epsilon, the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie under Maestro Vincent Monteil.
