Description:
Aesop’s fables are known for their artistry in conveying a message through a story. Each of the five fables collected here tells a different story that concludes with its own moral. The whole appeal of composing—and, hopefully, of performing and storytelling—lies in adapting the music to the mood of each story: capturing its characters, its twists and turns, and its spirit in sound. In the case of these fables, the stories lend themselves wonderfully to the composer’s imagination and invite the music to be alternately playful, dramatic, tender, or mischievous—always in service of the fable being told.
