Komplettes Orchestermaterial - kostengünstiger Setpreis/Als zugehörige Chorpartitur ist Carus 70.301/10 (Orgelfassung) verwendbar. Gabriel Fauré komponierte den Cantique de Jean Racine 1865 als preisgekrönte Abschlussarbeit seiner musikalischen Ausbildung. Die ursprüngliche Besetzung für Chor und Orgel erweiterte der Komponist um eine Streicherbegleitung; die Fassung mit Orchester wurde 1906 erstmals aufgeführt. Als Text wählte Fauré die französische Nachdichtung des lateinischen Hymnus 'Consors paterni luminis' durch Jean Racine. Der Cantique besitzt bereits die für Fauré typischen Charakteristika eines ausdrucksvollen Chorsatzes sowie der fein ausgearbeiteten Orchesterbegleitung und gehört zusammen mit dem wesentlich später entstandenen Requiem zu den beliebtesten Werken des Komponisten.
