Description:
CZECH SUITE IN D MAJOR, Op. 39/B. 93 is a five-movement work for small orchestra by Antonín Dvorák (1841-1904). Composed in 1879, the piece reflects his affinity for Czech folk music and includes various Czech dance styles: the polka, the sousedská, and the furiant. Composed at a time when he was becoming increasingly associated with the trend of bringing nationalist flavor into the concert hall, it showcases his ability to combine classical form with the vernacular music of his homeland. Adolf Cech conducted the first performance in Prague on May 16, 1879. Instrumentation: 2.2+EH.2.2: 2.2.0.0: Timp: Str (9.8.7.6.5 in set). Reprint edition.
