Description:
Danse macabre, Op. 40 by Camille Saint-Saëns is a captivating symphonic poem in G minor. In its restless 3/4 time, it creates a dark, dancing atmosphere between the stroke of midnight and the dance of death.
This arrangement for string orchestra with solo violin preserves the essential character of the original: the recurring bell motif, the ghostly dance figures, and the virtuosic solo violin as the embodiment of Death itself.
Technically well-balanced and with clearly structured parts, the edition is particularly suitable for advanced youth and amateur orchestras as well as ambitious student ensembles. The solo violin part is demanding yet rewarding and highly effective in performance.
A practical and reliable edition for rehearsals and concerts.
