Description:
The Creation appeared in print in several languages and with various publishers, including Breitkopf & Härtel in Leipzig, after exuberantly celebrated first performances in Vienna. For Haydn's oratorios premiered in Vienna, the participation of a continuo instrument is documented. Only the supplementary continuo part allows historically accurate performances: Harpsichord (and increasingly fortepiano) continuo instruments were an important part of orchestral practice at the time.
