Description:
The new edition is based on the well-known piano reduction by the composer and organist Ernst Friedrich Richter, which Breitkopf & Härtel published in Leipzig in 1845. At that time, the publisher had commissioned Richter in agreement with Mendelssohn. The new edition brought the piano reduction into extensive overtones with the score published by Christian Martin Schmidt in 2000 as part of the Leipzig Mendelssohn Edition, and the performance material developed from it. This also takes into account dynamics and articulation in detail. Richter's piano reduction was thoroughly reviewed by Hellmut Döhnert, changed where significant discrepancies with the score appeared, and finally newly engraved. Urtext according to the Leipzig Mendelssohn-Gesamtausgabe - first printing
