Description:
THE ENCHANTED LAKE, Op. 62 is a tone poem by Anatoly Lyadov (1855-1914). Subtitled "fairy tale scene", it is probably his most celebrated work due to its delicate scoring and evocative tranquility. Scholars have suggested that it borrows some material from his unfinished opera ZORYUSHKA. The first performance took place on February 21, 1909 in St. Petersburg under the direction of Nikolai Tcherepnin, to whom Lyadov had dedicated it. Instrumentation: 3.2.3.2: 4.0.0.0: Timp. Perc(1): Hp.Clst: Str (9.8.7.6.5 in set).
