Description:
Composed between 1889 and 1890, this first version of Claude Debussy's Fantaisie pour piano et orchestre was never performed or published during the composer's lifetime. It was only a year after his death, in 1919, that this initial version was premiered in London, with Alfred Cortot as soloist, and then in Paris with Marguerite Long at the piano. This volume of the COMPLETE WORKS OF CLAUDE DEBUSSY, Series V, Vol. 2, is edited by pianist Christophe Grabowski (who had already edited a volume for the OCCD) with a historical foreword by Denis Herlin. This publication is based primarily on two autograph manuscripts, the orchestral score and the solo piano part.
