Description:
Arrangement for orchestra (Original: Piano). The manuscript of Fanny’s Faust is dated 23 March 1843. The text of Fanny Hensel’s Faust is based on the opening stan-zas (4613-4678) of Part II, Act I and depicts the song of Ariel and the chorus of elf spirits.
Fanny Hensel wrote to the singer Franz Hauser in 1843: "… this score is one of the many acts of mine
that will forever remain undone." Although she thought her piano score to be asking for some orchestration,
she felt not able to makte the arrangement herself. Reinhard Fehling’s orchestration accommodates
to Hensel’s intention and has remained faithful to the piece.
