Description:
The GRAND PAS CLASSIQUE was conceived of by famous 20th century Russian dancer, teacher and choreographer Victor Gsovsky as a stand-alone pas de deux. Meant to be an homage to classical ballet style and aesthetic, much of which was created by the 19th century "father" of classical ballet, Marius Petipa, the brief pas premiered on November 12, 1949, by Les Ballets des Champs-Elysees in Paris. To compliment his choreography, he selected the ballet music from Daniel Auber's (1782-1871) 1830 opera, LE DIEU ET LA BAYADÈRE. This orchestration of the PAS DE DEUX is completed by William McDermott. Instrumentation: 1+Picc.2.2.2: 4.2.3.0: Timp.Perc(1): Str (4-4-3-3-3 in set).
