Description:
In the Second Symphony, Matthias Georg Kendlinger processes an essential part of his artistic life, which has been shaped by more than 20 years of getting to know and appreciating Ukrainian culture.
"I have long felt as Austrian as well as Ukrainian and would like to build connecting bridges with my music." It can be experienced in this work by means of Ukrainian motifs as well as in the scherzo when quoting the folk song "The Tyroleans are funny".
The composition is also a thank you to his friends and colleagues, who brought him closer to the Ukrainian soul through their open manner.
The world premiere with Kendlinger's K&K Philharmonic Orchestra took place on 13 July 2017 in the UNESCO World Heritage City of Lviv under the baton of Taras Lenko.
